Greg Smith firmly believes working in a career you love is good for the body and the mind. And he should know. Prior to choosing the financial services field, Greg was a mental health practitioner, providing individual and group therapy, co-managing a psychosocial rehab center, and serving as a forensic examiner determining whether a defendant was competent to stand trial.
After some sessions on the receiving end of counseling from his Grandfather - a 60+ year veteran of the financial services industry - he decided to leave healthcare behind and begin anew as a career agent for Jefferson Pilot Financial in 2000. With early successes, Greg joined the Pilot Financial management team as Sales Manager, recruiting, on-boarding and training new agents.
With Pilot since 2000, Greg oversees Pilot's full service fixed brokerage area as Director of Sales and Marketing. His primary responsibilities are now focused on building productive relationships and managing strategic case consultation to help build Pilot's independent advisors' practices.
A native of Greensboro, North Carolina and a graduate of the University of North Carolina –Greensboro, Greg holds Securities Licenses Series 6 and 63 and has his Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRCP) designation. He and his wife Amanda (his high school sweetheart) reside in Greensboro with their daughter, and in his spare time Greg is an avid mountain biker, riding over 3000 "trail" miles a year.
